It is already provided in Defence Force Regulations that a non-commissioned officer or private of the Permanent Defence Force who has been awarded the 1916 Medal and/or the Service (1917-1921) Medal may be continued in service for such periods as will make up a total of thirty-three years' service, as against thirty-one years' service in the case of personnel who were not awarded either of these medals.
