Vol. 191 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Contributory Old Age Pensions: Cases of Discontinuance and Reduction.

18.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of recipients of special allowances who qualified for the contributory old age pension and who had their allowances (a) discontinued and (b) reduced.

As a result of the grant of contributory old age pensions, 141 special allowances were discontinued and 803 reduced. These figures are somewhat lower than those which I gave on the 25th May last in reply to a similar question by Deputy Norton. At that time, the position had not finally clarified itself.
