Vol. 191 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Common Market: Representative to E.E.C.

6.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if in the light of recent developments in relation to the Common Market he will consider the appointment of a direct representative to the European Economic Community, such appointee to have sole responsibility for that particular office.

As the Deputy was informed on 10th May, the present arrangement for our representation to the European Economic Community has been working satisfactorily. I see no reason to make any change at the present time.

Surely the Minister must appreciate there has been a considerable change, say, in the last fortnight since the question was asked before? Do the Government say there is no change in the situation?

That is not what I said.

It would appear to be so anyway, unless I am very stupid.
