Vol. 191 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Investment Proposal: Distribution of Circular.

11.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that circulars, as per the specimen forwarded to him, for an alleged investment proposal have been widely distributed; and if he proposes to take any action in reference thereto.

Mr. Ryan

Participation by any person in the State in the betting scheme described in the circular referred to by the Deputy is regarded as a contravention of the Betting Act, 1931, which provides for the imposition of an excise penalty of £100 in respect of each offence. The Revenue Commissioners are taking appropriate steps to enforce the provisions of the Act in such cases.
