Vol. 192 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Moy Drainage Scheme: Recruitment of Workers.

72.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the grave dissatisfaction amongst workers in Ballina town concerning the present methods of recruitment of workers for the Moy Drainage Scheme; if he will state the methods generally used by the Office of Public Works for recruiting workers; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The method of recruitment of labour for the Moy Drainage Scheme is the same as that generally followed in such schemes by the Office of Public Works, that is, men are recruited through the local Employment Exchange except certain skilled men—usually key men—who are transferred from other works carried out by that Office. I am not aware of any grave dissatisfaction concerning it.
