Vol. 192 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salary Scales of Agricultural Officers.

80.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has received representations in regard to the salary scales of agricultural officers in the four grades with special reference to the farm buildings supervising inspectors; and, if so, what action he proposes to take.

There are at present eight grades of Agricultural Officers in my Department and questions relating to their salary scales are dealt with under the Scheme of Conciliation and Arbitration for the Civil Service. A claim received under that Scheme for the reorganisation of the grading structure and for a revision of the salary scales of the officers concerned, who include the Farm Buildings Supervising Inspectors, has been the subject of discussion with Staff Side representatives to whom an offer has been made.

Am I to take it that the offer is still under consideration by the Staff Side and will be made the subject of arbitration if agreement is not reached?

I take it that the offer, having been made, must be under discussion by the Staff Side, but what will follow next I cannot say.
