Vol. 192 No. 2

Pilotage (Amendment) Bill, 1961— First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Pilotage Act, 1913. —(Minister for Transport and Power.)

When will it be circulated?

Almost immediately.

May I say that we had the First Reading of some Bills on the 11th October and we were told they would be circulated immediately but we got most of them very late.

Deputies were told they would be circulated in time for consideration.

I do not think No. 17 was circulated in time. It is a very long Bill and it was circulated much too recently.

It was circulated last week.

It is a very long Bill. That is not time enough.

May I put it to the Dáil and the Taoiseach that ordinarily it is not reasonable to introduce a Bill on Wednesday and take it on Second Reading the following Wednesday, because it does not give us time to read the Bill.

The Deputy knows there is no difficulty about making arrangements in this regard.

They can be shoved over?

All these Bills can be ordered for Wednesday.

Next Wednesday, then, tentatively.

Second Stage ordered for Wednesday, 22nd November, 1961.
