Vol. 192 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Land: Register of Purchases by Non-Nationals.

122.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider the keeping of a special register of the acquisition of land or property by non-nationals and non-nationals who have become Irish citizens, in view of increased immigration from the Continent while nearly one thousand Irish people emigrate every week.

Since the coming into operation of Sections 33 and 34 of the Finance Act, 1961, on 1st August last, particulars of the relevant transactions involving non-nationals are being recorded by the Land Commission.

The acquisition of land or property by Irish citizens is outside the scope of these arrangements.
