Vol. 193 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing of Council Cottage Sub-Tenants.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of any Departmental regulation which makes it difficult for Dublin County Council to house council cottage sub-tenants who live in overcrowded conditions; and, if so, if he will take steps to have the regulation suitably amended.

There is no statutory or Departmental prohibition on the rehousing of sub-tenants of local authority dwellings.

I have already explained fully in replies to previous Parliamentary Questions the position regarding the payment of subsidy in respect of such rehousing and I would refer the Deputy to my replies to Deputies Rooney and Clinton on the 16th and 22nd of November last in the matter.
