My Department is anxious to acquire additional land for planting in the Ballybofey area and all possible steps are being taken towards that end. There are at present 51 blocks of land totalling 2,888 acres on offer for forestry purposes in the Ballybofey and Stranorlar districts. Agreement to purchase has been reached in 23 of these cases totalling 888 acres and title is in course of clearance. Negotiations are in progress for the purchase of 15 areas totalling 1,362 acres and the remaining 13 cases are at the preliminary stages of investigation.
