asked the Minister for Defence the total number of ex-Army personnel in receipt of pensions, distinguishing between officers, N.C.O.s, and men; and the total amount paid in pensions for the last twelve months, giving details for each category.

I assume that the Deputy has in mind retired pay and pensions payable under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes 1937 to 1960. On that basis the particulars for the latest date for which they are readily available viz. 30th September, 1961, are as follows:
