Vol. 193 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Mayo Flooding and Coast Erosion.

35.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will take steps to remedy the damage caused last year by abnormal flooding and coast erosion in the Ballycroy and Erris areas of North Mayo.

Following representations made to me in November I had an inspection of the North Mayo area made and I have directed that an engineering survey of the Glenamoy River be carried out this year with a view to a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. The Special Employment Schemes Office is arranging for the removal of obstructions caused by the collapse of a bridge in the area. No representations about coast erosion have been received by the Office of Public Works.
