Vol. 193 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Registry of Deeds.

136.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce without delay changes in the Registry of Deeds, including a simplified memorial form, a simplified system of searches, standardised fees and arrangements for lodgement of prepaid requisitions by post, the searches being posted out when ready.

The introduction of legislative proposals to modernise the practice and procedure in the Registry of Deeds is provided for in the recently published Programme of Law Reform. The matter is under consideration but I am not at present in a position to indicate when the proposals will be introduced.
