Vol. 193 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1 and 4; Questions at 3 p.m.

Is it proposed to resume the order after Questions? That is very "bitty". Would it not be fairer to whoever was speaking to take Questions at 3.15 p.m. and not have anything after that?

I am quite agreeable.

The contribution of whoever was speaking would not be broken up so much.

I do not think we need have any worry about precedent. This is the last occasion in this session on which this issue will arise. Questions will be spread over three days. I am prepared to follow the suggestion made by Deputy Sweetman to take Questions at 3.15 p.m.

And to do no business after that?

That is getting more "bitty". A quarter of an hour will not do any good. There are a lot of questions for the Department of Lands which should go through quickly. Make it 3.30 p.m.

I am very glad to hear that.

Make it 3 p.m. if you like. I suggest, as we did before, that we take Questions at 3 p.m. and not resume at the end of Questions.

I desire to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Questions Nos. 46 and 47 which appeared on the Order Paper of 28th February, 1962.

I shall communicate with the Deputy.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to raise on the Adjournment the subject matter of Question No. 17 on the Order Paper of 14th February, dealing with membership of NATO, and I would refer you to the statement made by the Taoiseach on this very matter which was discussed in this House on 20th October, 1953.

Is this giving notice?

The Question is No. 17?

No. 17, on the Order Paper of 14th February.

I shall communicate with the Deputy.

Perhaps we could have two adjournment debates and that might take up the time.
