Vol. 193 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Board of Nitrigin Éireann Teoranta.

23.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any of the members of the Board of Nitrigin Éireann Teoranta which was set up in 1961 with public money amounting to £7,000,000 had any technical training in the production of nitrogenous fertiliser; what chemicals are to be produced by this company; and what has been the quoted world production price per ton of these chemicals year by year since 1951.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The production programme of the Company must obviously be flexible but it will include the manufacture of sulphate of ammonia and calcium ammonium nitrate and the necessary ingredients for such manufacture. So far as I am aware, there is no single world production price quotation for nitrogenous fertilisers. The production price per ton naturally varies from country to country. The c.i.f. prices of nitrogenous fertilisers imported into this country may be obtained from the official trade statistics published by the Central Statistics Office.
