Vol. 193 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schools Unfit for Use.

40.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Education the total number of schools unfit for use as such and in respect of which it is intended to provide new premises.

There were, in September, 1961, 736 schools which it was considered were defective and would call for replacement by new schools. Replacement is of varying degrees of urgency. Grants have already been sanctioned by my Department in 124 of these cases.
