asked the Minister for Justice if he will make provision by way of pension for widows of district justices who have died while holding office.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensions for Widows of District Justices.
46.
The Courts of Justice and Court Officers (Superannuation) Act, 1961, provides that upon the death, while holding office as a judge or justice after five years' service, of any person to whom the relevant section applies there shall be granted to the legal personal representative of that person a gratuity of an amount equal to the yearly amount of his salary as a judge or justice at the time of his death. I am not prepared at this stage to introduce proposals to extend further the provision made for dependants of members of the Judiciary.
