Vol. 194 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Veterinary Supervision of Dublin Meat Supplies.

34.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether all meat consumed by humans in Dublin City is subject to the same veterinary supervision irrespective of whether the meat is killed within the city or is brought into the city already killed; and if he will state the nature of such supervision.

Such meat is subject to the same standard of veterinary supervision wherever killed.

Retail premises are also subject to inspection under the Food Hygiene Regulations, 1950.

Mr. Ryan

My information is that some meat comes from outside the city direct to institutions and is not subject to any veterinary inspection. Could the Minister satisfy the House that is not so?

That is not so.
