Vol. 194 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Stamp Duty on House Property Purchases.

15.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance if in view of the social desirability of encouraging people to purchase their own homes he will consider abolishing stamp duties on all household property where the consideration is £3,000 or less.

The question of stamp duty on conveyances and transfers of property is regularly reviewed. The particular matter to which the Deputy refers is, however, one for consideration in connection with the Budget; and he will appreciate that I cannot indicate in advance at any stage what proposals my Budget Statement may or may not contain.

Mr. Ryan

I anticipated that reply.
