Vol. 194 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tintern Abbey, County Wexford.

22.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Commissioners of Public Works intend to acquire Tintern Abbey, County Wexford, for preservation as a national monument; and, if so, when.

As indicated to the Deputy in reply to a previous question, the Commissioners of Public Works have noted Tintern Abbey for consideration to be taken into State care. They have in hands a heavy programme of work on monuments already in their care, but they hope within the next few months to open negotiations for the taking over of this Abbey.
