Vol. 195 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Staffs of Health Authorities.

18.

asked the Minister for Health the total number of administrative and other lay staff now employed by health authorities.

I presume that the information required is in relation to the numbers of administrative and clerical staff employed by local authorities on duties in connection with health services.

My functions do not extend to the administrative and clerical staff employed by health authorities other than the unified health authorities and mental hospital authorities. The total number of such staff employed by the four unified health authorities is 577, made up as follows:-

Dublin

354

Cork

136

Limerick

48

Waterford

39

Arrangements have been made to ascertain particulars in respect of other areas and the required information will be furnished to the Deputy direct as soon as it is available.
