Vol. 195 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of Clara (Offaly) River.

37.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a grant available to Offaly County Council for closing in the local river at Rover Street, Clara, County Offaly in view of the objectionable odour from it; and if he will take steps to ensure that work on this proposal will take place immediately.

It is possible that an allocation from Subhead D of the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote will be made to Offaly County Council for winter employment schemes at Clara. It will be for the Offaly County Council in the first instance to suggest the works for which the allocation will be used, bearing in mind that they must have a high unskilled labour content and be suitable for execution during the winter months.

What number on the priority list is that?

The Nanny River is No. 14.

The Suir is about No. 26.
