asked the Minister for Agriculture at what approximate date the Government expect to have completed their consideration of the Report of the Interdepartmental Committee on the Problems of Small Western Farms and to have come to a decision as to the adoption of any or all of the recommendations contained in this Report.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the recommendations contained in the Report of the Interdepartmental Committee on the Problems of Small Western Farms, he will now consider the question of reorganising the Irish Agricultural Organisation Society with a view to giving it greater resources staff and flexibility in operation.

11.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the recommendations of the Interdepartmental Committee on the Problems of Small Western Farms, he will consider the development and extension of short summer courses for farmers in agricultural colleges and other centres.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether his Department are at present considering, as suggested in the Report of the Interdepartmental Committee on the Problems of Small Western Farms (page 24), whether Irish legislation governing co-operatives would need to be modernised on the lines of similar legislation abroad; if so, whether he intends to introduce any such new legislation in the near future; and, if his Department are not at present considering this problem, whether he will now institute a study of the present legislation governing co-operatives with a view to its modernisation and amendment.

As indicated in the preface to the report referred to by the Deputy, the document has been made available to the public in order to stimulate constructive discussion on how the problems of small farms can best be tackled. No decision has yet been taken on any of the recommendations.
