asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state for a recent date the number of persons in receipt of contributory old age pensions, and the number of those in receipt of an allowance in respect of a wife.

On 31st March, 1962, the number of persons receiving old age (contributory) pensions was 34,802. Of these, 13,316 were married men receiving an increase of pension in respect of a wife.
