asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state for a recent date the number of insured persons who pay social insurance contributions, other than persons insured only for widows' and orphans' pensions.

The estimated number of insured persons who pay social insurance contributions, other than persons insured only for widows' and orphans' pensions, at 31st March, 1961, the latest date for which figures are available, is 667,000.
