asked the Minister for Justice the number of grants of probate or administration taken out in each of the years 1960 and 1961 (a) by applicants in person and (b) by members of the legal profession; and the gross amount of assets and duty paid in each case.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants of Probate and Administration.
Mr. Ryan
The information sought by the Deputy is in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.

(c) Figures are supplied by Revenue Commissioners. Statistics are not kept of th apportionment of the yield of Death Duties as between grants issued (a) to applicants in person and (b) to members of the legal profession. Compilation of this information would entail an inordinate amount of work.
Does the Minister include in section (a) cases where grants are extracted by customs officials for and on behalf of people who have not adequate means?
Yes, I think so.
Are they treated as applicants in person?
I think so.
If they are not so treated, would the Minister make that information available also?
