Vol. 195 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cleaning of County Donegal River.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance what plans are before his Department in relation to the cleaning of the Carrigans Burn (between Dunfanaghy and Port-na-Blagh), County Donegal; and if it is proposed to carry out these plans in the near future.

Carrigans Burn cannot be identified as such, but a drain in the area referred to, flowing from Kill Lough North, to the strand at Sandhill on Dunfanaghy golf links, was examined in 1959 under the Rural Improvements Scheme. It was found to be unsuitable for grant as the cost of effective drainage would be excessive in relation to the benefits it would afford.
