asked the Minister for Local Government the total amount of money which will be granted from his Department to the Dún Laoghaire Corporation during the current financial year for road improvements; the roads which it is proposed to resurface or repair in Dún Laoghaire Borough; the estimated numbers who will be employed on this work; and when it is expected that the work will be completed.

A road improvement grant of £62,250 has been allocated to Dún Laoghaire Corporation for 1962/63. The Corporation have a number of road improvement schemes under consideration, including New-townpark Avenue (continuation of current work), Rock Road, Glenageary Road Upper, Stradbrook Road and Carrickbrennan Avenue, but I cannot say whether these works or any of them will be proposed for execution under this grant.
The streets and roads on which the Corporation propose to carry out road maintenance works in 1962/63 are set out in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report. A road upkeep grant estimated at £11,000 approximately will be paid to meet 50 per cent. of the cost of such of these works as are on trunk and link roads.
In regard to employment on road works in the Borough, the average monthly figure for 1961/62 was 76, and something more than this may be expected this year.
