Vol. 195 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Land by Foreigners.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands (1) the acreage of lands in the Republic purchased by foreigners during 1961, (2) the acreage purchased county by county, (3) the number of holdings purchased in each county and (4) the total number of holdings purchased.

Records for the period prior to 1st August, 1961, are not available. Since 1st August, 1961, particulars of the relevant transactions are being recorded by the Land Commission under the procedure authorised by Sections 33, 34 and 35 of the Finance Act, 1961. The reply, which relates to the period from 1st August, 1961, up to yesterday, 9th May, 1962, takes the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.
