Vol. 195 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fishing Industry Development Fund.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands whether, further to the statement in the Programme of Sea Fisheries Development that with a view to restricting imports (of fish) to a reasonable level importers when applying for licences make voluntary contributions to the Fishing Industry Development Fund, he will state on what basis the amount of such voluntary contributions is decided.

The contributions in question are at the rate of 3/6d. a stone which was fixed in agreement with the importers and helps to restrict imports by increasing the cost and making them less competitive with home landed fish.

Only the importers were consulted?

They are the people concerned.
