Vol. 195 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Longford-Westmeath Telephone Installations.

26.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of applications for telephones in the constituency of Longford-Westmeath in respect of which telephones have not so far been installed; and the reasons why priorities in the installation of telephones are arranged.

The answer to the first part of the Question is about 280. Priority is given to certain applications for example applications from doctors, emergency and public services, etc., because it is in the public interest to do so. In other cases the applications have some claim to special treatment—for example, if the applicant is a removing subscriber.
