Vol. 195 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire Harbour Works.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance what development or reconstruction work is proposed for Dún Laoghaire Harbour, County Dublin this year; the sum of money which will be expended on the work; and the anticipated number of men who will be employed thereon.

The improvements at present in hand at Dún Laoghaire Harbour include the erection of a queuing shelter, a left-luggage office and the provision of two cranes for handling cars.

It is proposed to extend shoreward the upper deck and to improve the entrance on the West side of the Mail Boat Pier. Extensive reconstruction of the sub-structure is being undertaken.

If present plans mature, the construction of a car-ferry terminal will be commenced. £183,000 is provided for the work and about 60 men will be employed with an additional 50 if the car ferry project is proceeded with this year.
