Vol. 195 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Contributory Pension Applications.

35.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of people in County Kildare and in each of the portions of Counties Meath and Westmeath in the Kildare constituency who have applied for old age contributory pensions; and the number granted on application and on appeal.

Statistics of claims to old age (contributory) pensions are available only in respect of whole county and county borough areas. It is not possible, therefore, to give the information requested for the portions of the Counties of Meath and Westmeath which are in the Kildare constituency.

In regard to County Kildare, 1,395 claims to old age (contributory) pensions were received up to and including 30th April, 1962, and in 1,013 of these cases, pensions had been awarded. No record is available of the number of these pensions which were awarded following appeal.
