Vol. 195 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Retirement Gratuity for Army Officers.

56.

asked the Minister for Defence the conditions and circumstances under which an officer of the Defence Forces is entitled to a gratuity on retirement; and if he will specify the relevant statutory provisions and Defence Force Regulations providing for the same.

The various types of gratuities payable to officers on retirement, the circumstances in which they are payable and the conditions attaching to their payment are laid down in the Defence Forces (Pensions) Scheme, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 249 of 1937), as amended by subsequent schemes.
