Normally all complaints of contravention of Orders made under the Restrictive Trade Practices Acts are referred to the Fair Trade Commission in the first instance. The Annual Reports of the Commission, which are published and laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas, give particulars of the more noteworthy of such cases, and of the outcome of the Commission's investigations into the complaints. In most cases the matters complained of are rectified voluntarily. In two cases, however, it was necessary to take proceedings and in each of these the court found the charges proved and imposed fines.
