asked the Taoiseach the number of unemployed at present registered in the following offices of the Department of Social Welfare: (a) Tullamore (b) Birr (c) Edenderry (d) Portarlington (e) Portlaoise (f) Athy and (g) Rathdowney; and the number of registered unemployed in each office on 1st June, 1961.

The numbers of persons on the Live Register on Saturday, 9th June, 1962, at the following local offices of the Department of Social Welfare were:— (a) Tullamore, 151, (b) Birr, 182, (c) Edenderry, 74, (d) Portarlington, 138, (e) Portlaoise, 112, (f) Athy, 46, and (g) Rathdowney, 56. The corresponding figures for 3rd June, 1961 (the nearest available date to 1st June, 1961), were:— (a) Tullamore, 95; (b) Birr, 159; (c) Edenderry, 57; (d) Portarlington, 55; (e) Portlaoise, 136; (f) Athy, 108, and (g) Rathdowney, 35.
