Vol. 196 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Drainage Pipes.

44.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there is considerable delay in the delivery of land drainage pipes to farmers; and if he will give the names and addresses of firms manufacturing them.

I have not received any complaints of considerable delay in delivery of land drainage pipes to farmers. The following firms have informed my Department that they are manufacturing land drainage pipes:

Courtown Brick and Tile Works, Courtown Harbour, Gorey, County Wexford.

Clarecastle Clay Products, 10 Bindon Street, Ennis, County Clare.

Flemings Fireclays Limited, The Swan, Athy, County Kildare.

Irish Stoneware and Fireclays Limited, Stoneware and Fireclays Limited, Kingscourt Road, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan.

The Slane Brick Company Limited, Grangegeeth, Slane, County Meath.

Did the Minister hear the Minister for Agriculture tell me ten minutes ago that there was a delay?

I said the Minister had not received any complaints but I was made aware of the delay by the Minister for Agriculture and I was made aware of the cause of the delay.

The Minister mentioned that Flemings Fireclays Limited, was in County Kildare. It is a County Laois industry of which we are very proud.

I did not ask the Minister if he had received any complaints. I asked him if he was aware that there is a considerable delay in the delivery of these pipes.

The question may have been phrased that way. The Minister has not received any complaints about the delay but has been made aware of the delay.

The Minister is putting words into my mouth.
