Vol. 196 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pupils Receiving Post-Primary Education.

82.

asked the Minister for Education the percentage of pupils attending national schools who subsequently obtain education (a) in a secondary school, (b) wholetime at a vocational school and (c), part-time at a vocational school.

The compilation of up-to-date statistics in relation to numbers following courses of post-primary education is at present on hands. From the information so far available it is estimated that of the 14 to 15 age group about two out of three are in full-time attendance at courses of secondary or vocational education. The statistics available for part-time pupils in vocational schools do not admit of their being broken down so as to show the numbers whose previous education was received in national schools only.
