Vol. 196 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Primary Schools.

85.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the City of Dublin the plans for new or improved primary schools likely to be implemented in each of the next five years.

There are proposals before my Department for the provision of 14 new national schools and for the carrying out of major improvement schemes at nine existing schools in the City of Dublin.

Work on the erection of one new school will be put in hands within the next few months and it is expected that the construction of eight other new schools will commence before December, 1963. It is anticipated that the remaining five schools will be erected within the next five years.

Work on the reconstruction of five existing schools should commence within the next 12 months. It is hoped that the remaining four schools will be under reconstruction in 1964.
