Vol. 196 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Population of North and South Mayo.

6.

Mr. Browne

asked the Taoiseach the population of (a) North Mayo and (b) South Mayo.

It is presumed that the areas to which the Deputy refers are the county constituencies of North Mayo and South Mayo.

The population at the 1956 Census of these constituencies, as now defined, was: North Mayo 58,306 persons, South Mayo 77,677 persons. It is not yet possible to give corresponding figures derived from the 1961 Census.
