Vol. 196 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Maize Prices.

23.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is in a position to state why the prices of maize meal and cooked maize are respectively £1.12 and £1.15 a hundredweight in the Republic while the prices in Northern Ireland are only £1.6 and £1.7.

The difference in prices is a consequence of the arrangements made to restrict imports of maize in order to maintain a guaranteed price and market for home grown feeding barley.
