Vol. 196 No. 9

Written Answers. - Defence Force Regulations.

100.

asked the Minister for Defence with reference to the case of a retired officer and to the provisions of Defence Force Regulations S.3 and Amendment No. 136 thereto, paragraph 36 (e) (ii), whether any explanation as by the regulations provided was sought from the said officer, and in what circumstances.

The contemplated deduction in the case to which the Deputy refers will fall to be made from a gratuity under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes, and not from pay. Consequently, the Defence Force Regulation mentioned does not enter into the matter, but the same procedure is being followed.

101.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will make available in the Oireachtas Library a complete set of the Defence Force regulations at present in force; and if he will arrange thereafter for copies of every such regulation according as it is made to be furnished to the said Library in the same way as those furnished under statutory direction are furnished at present.

I propose to make available to the Oireachtas Library a complete set of Defence Force Regulations at present in force with the exception of one Regulation which is in the Restricted Category and which deals with the organisation of the Defence Forces. Thereafter a copy of every Regulation made, which is not restricted, will be furnished when it is printed.
