Vol. 196 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Helicopter Service.

15.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when he expects the Interdepartmental Committee which is at present examining the question of providing a helicopter service for rescue and fishery protection work, as referred to on 5th July by the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Lands, to reach a decision on this matter.

The Interdepartmental Committee was set up primarily to examine the need for helicopter rescue facilities. Other possible uses for helicopters, such as fishery protection work, are also being taken into account.

The Committee's examination is not yet completed but I understand that considerable work has been done. I am not yet in a position to say when their report will be presented to me.
