Vol. 196 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tullow (Carlow) Lands.

30.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission are yet in a position to allocate the lands of the Nathan Estate, Ardoyne, Tullow, County Carlow to the local applicants; and, if not, if he will state the cause of the delay.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to his previous Question on 22nd May. These lands cannot yet be allocated as some enquiries into the circumstances of applicants are still outstanding. A large number of local applicants are involved.

Do I gather then that the Minister is not prepared for the final allocation of this holding?

There is no final scheme prepared.

If there are still local enquiries being made will the Minister give some indication of why the matter was not settled up to yesterday?

I am afraid that in respect to the question of the letting of these lands, the Deputy should give me notice of any query he wishes to make. I understand they were let yesterday but whether they had been vacant for any considerable time, I do not know.

I am informed the lands concerned had been vacant from 1st January last. Surely that was an indication that the lands were available for allocation?
