The carriage of turf for reward in a mechanically propelled vehicle has been exempted from the restrictions in the Road Transport Acts by the Turf (Suspension of Section 9 (1) of the Road Transport Act, 1933) Order, 1946. The carriage of turf, or bog peat fuel, which I take to be merely another term for turf, for reward on a tractor and trailer having an £8 (now £2 10s.) agricultural road tax is not, therefore, an offence under the Road Transport Acts.
