Vol. 196 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Engineers.

31.

asked the Minister for Local Government what control, if any, his Department have over the activities of county engineers.

County engineers are officers of and perform their duties under the direction and control of their respective local authorities. In common with other local officers in relation to whose offices I am the appropriate Minister, I have certain statutory functions in regard to the qualifications, remuneration, duties and conditions of service of county engineers and in regard to suspension and removal from office for unfitness or misconduct.
