Vol. 196 No. 16

Committee on Finance. - Local Government (Sanitary Services) Bill, 1962—Money Resolution.

I move:

That it is expedient to authorise such payments out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas as are necessary to give effect to any Act of the present session to amend and extend the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Acts, 1878 to 1952.

On the Money Resolution, I might say that I notice some of my colleagues on my right disagree with my point of view. For the sake of the record, it is better to make clear what we felt here. Consideration of this Bill at the end of the session is bound to be somewhat rushed. We felt therefore that if we were to re-examine certain provisions as we might like, it would not be possible to do so to a satisfactory degree in the time that was bound to be available and it was better therefore to leave it as it was, subject to clarification on Committee Stage and if it was found in working that alterations were required, we would bring in an amending Bill ourselves at a later stage.

Question put and agreed to.
Resolution reported and agreed to.
