Vol. 196 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medical Card Holders in Kildare, Meath and Westmeath.

9.

asked the Minister for Health the number of farmers in (1) County Kildare, (2) County Meath and (3) County Westmeath with holdings under £20 valuation, under £25 valuation, under £30 valuation, under £35 valuation and under £40 valuation who hold medical cards; and the number of farmers in each area whose applications were refused.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, with your permission to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

The information regarding the numbers of farmers holding medical cards is in respect of the 30th June, 1962, the latest date for which it is available. The information in column (7) regarding the numbers of farmers whose applications for medical cards were refused is in respect of the period of three years ended 30th June, 1962, and covers all farmers irrespective of the valuation of their holdings.

The figures shown in the columns under the various categories are

(a) the number of medical cards held by farmers in the particular category, and

(b) the number of persons covered by these cards, that is, holders and dependants.
