Vol. 196 No. 16

Written Answers. - Land Purchased by Non-Nationals.

83.

asked the Minister for Lands county by county (a) the number of estates and (b) the number of acres of land known by his Department to have been purchased by non-nationals in each of the years 1951 to 1961 inclusive, and during the first six months of 1962.

Statutory records for the period prior to 1st August, 1961, are not available, but I would refer the Deputy to the statistics quoted by me on 10th June, 1960, when introducing the Lands Estimate for the year ended 31st March, 1961—Vol. 188, Cols. 1091-2—which may be of interest. Since 1st August, 1961, particulars of the relevant transactions are being recorded by the Land Commission under the procedure authorised by Sections 33, 34 and 35 of the Finance Act, 1961. The available statistics—relating to the period from 1st August, 1961 to 30th June, 1962— are contained in the following tabular statement:

FINANCE ACT 1961—SECTIONS 33, 34 AND 35
