Vol. 196 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arbitration for Local Government Officials.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to introduce a scheme for arbitration and conciliation for local government officials.

The question of a scheme of conciliation and arbitration for local authority staffs is being considered by the managers. They have had a preliminary draft scheme prepared and I understand that they will open discussions with the staffs on the matter in due course.

Can the Minister say if the scheme has to be approved by him before it is implemented?

The type of scheme being considered at the moment would not require my approval or benediction.
